Center for society against abortion, euthanasia to open

Topics: Announcements, News

Fr. Frank Pavone, founder of Priests for Life, broke ground on the headquarters for his new religious order, MIssionaries of the Gosepl of Life. Terri Schindler-Schiavo's parents and brother attended the ceremony.

"A society of priests focused on fighting abortion and euthanasia was scheduled to break ground on its new home in this Panhandle city Thursday night."

"Expected to attend the ceremony for the male-only Missionaries of the Gospel of Life were the parents of Terry Shiavo, whose fight to keep their daughter on life support in Florida drew worldwide attention. Also expected was Norma McCorvey, the woman at the center of the landmark Roe vs. Wade case that legalized abortion who now opposes abortion."

"The Gospel of Life is a diocesan society, not a religious order like the Jesuits or Franciscans. Priests who join will take no vows outside the ones they make when they are ordained. Instead, they'll make what founders call "promises" dedicating their lives to fighting abortion and euthanasia."
