Empire Journal Publisher's Father Needs Help

Topics: Action Items

Update (11/12/2005): From June Maxam - "My father died this evening about 7 p.m. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers and efforts on his behalf. He died with dignity, not dehydration." Our thoughts and prayers are with you June.

I would like to encourage all of those would fought for the life of Terri Schiavo to help June Maxam, editor of North County Gazette, and co-publisher of The Empire Journal.

June's father suffered a massive stroke at Eden Park Nursing Home in Glens Falls. He was not hospitalized - instead the nursing home claims they are "maintaining his dignity" and plan to place him in a hospice, withhold all nutrition and hydration and wait for him to die.

June has asked for help - please click here for more information.

It appears that June Maxam and Ginger Berlin of The Empire Journal are having a bit of a public spat.

From The Empire Journal:

a letter dated September 12, 2005, June Maxam said, “goodbye " to the Empire Journal. After a short period of time, Ms. Maxam requested that she be reinstated with the paper and she was provided that opportunity. However on September 19, 2005 Ms. Maxam informed The Empire Journal in writing that she would no longer " be sending any articles for TEJ. In light of Ms. Maxam’s indecision and ultimate written withdrawal, The Empire Journal accepts her last notice as final and advises one and all that she is no longer associated in any capacity with The Empire Journal or American Free Media, LLC. We wish her well in her endeavors.

From www.northcountrygazette.org:

As of Wednesday, Nov. 23, Ginger Berlin has posted a false statement concerning June Maxam's ownership of and position at The Empire Journal. At no time did June Maxam "resign" her position at The Empire Journal nor did she voluntarily leave the publication. She remains an equal partner and co-publisher of The Empire Journal under NYS Partnership Law. Ms. Berlin has engaged in a wrongful exclusion and the matter is now entering litigation. Ms. Berlin has refused to post material from June Maxam at The Empire Journal since mid-September and has refused all communications and attempts to resolve the matter. All material written by June Maxam including all Schiavo articles up to and including Sept. 19, 2005, remain the intellectual property of June Maxam and may not be used in any form without the express written permission of June Maxam. Ginger Berlin is not associated in any way with The North Country Gazette.
