« Message to bloggers and readers from Ken Mullinax, Nephew of Mae Magouirk. | Main | List of Contacts to SAVE MISS MAE! » April 8, 2005UPDATED Helping Mae Magouirk: More cages to rattleTopics: Action ItemsSherri has done it again. She's compiled a list of people to contact who have authority to do something about the parching and starvation of Mae Magouirk. Please take the time to let these people know how you feel about this latest government execution in progress. Politely of course. Cross-posted on Powers That Blog. Update: Richard already posted this information yesterday. I didn't see it. I'll leave this up in case other people also missed Richard's post. Update from Sherri: UPDATE: More contacts available here. Be sure to check the comment section too. When I called the AG's office about 8:00 PDT (11:00) EDT) this morning, the phone rep told me they were "aware of the situation and were looking into it." Posted by: Mary in LA at April 8, 2005 11:30 AM Glenn Beck has gotten email(s) (me@glennbeck.com)regarding this and mentioned it on his radio show. If you have an "in" with any media person, now is the time to use it. GA residents in particular need to contact their legislators. Those of us who have out of state addresses will be overlooked by them. If Mae is on Medicaid, then the State Health Care Fraud unit can get involved (1-800-508-9109 toll free). Posted by: I hope at April 8, 2005 11:32 AM Becky, Posted by: Sylvia at April 8, 2005 11:34 AM From NIH: "Aortic dissection is a condition in which there is bleeding into and along the wall of the aorta (the major artery from the heart). This condition may also involve abnormal widening or ballooning of the aorta (aneurysm)." More details at Posted by: Mary in LA at April 8, 2005 12:00 PM So, here's a question... What exactly IS the purpose of sedating a euthenasia victim? Is it: A) to decrease the pain brought on by starvation/dehydration OR B) to keep the patient from being able to vocalize his/her wishes I would be suspicious about this because advocates of this form of torture swear up and down that it is painless, peaceful and a wonderful way to go. And isn't Aortic Dissection what John Ritter (the actor from 3's Company) died from? Posted by: JIHC at April 8, 2005 12:29 PM I just e-mailed Ken Mullinax's statement to The Empire Journal. Posted by: Mary in LA at April 8, 2005 12:39 PM Can we activate the BlogsforTerri e-mail list? I'm making calls and still getting through. That shouldn't be happening! ;-) Posted by: Mary in LA at April 8, 2005 12:52 PM from a reliable source: I made about 6 phone calls so far. Started with AG's office. Very nice woman assured me their office has received several calls about Mae and is now looking into the situation. We'll see. Contacted GA Div. Aging Services - 404-657-5258 Nice woman. Asked me to email her the WND article which I did. Next called Mayor Jeff Lukken's office. His woman asst. was incredibly hostile. She had obviously heard something about Mae but feigned ignorance. She tried to dust me off saying the Mayor is out til Monday. But I insisted that she would want the facts and asked if I could have the office fax number. She reluctantly rattled it off and hung up. I sent a cover sheet, the WND article, and Ken Mullinex's latest update about Mae's sister. Office of Mayor Jeff Lukken Posted by: Straight Up with Sherri at April 8, 2005 1:04 PM Mike Leavett Posted by: Straight Up with Sherri at April 8, 2005 1:05 PM Free audio of interview on Glenn Beck with Kenneth this morning: http://www.glennbeck.com/audio/free-audio.shtml Posted by: Straight Up with Sherri at April 8, 2005 1:07 PM I called the Division of Aging Services' Abuse Report line, (404) 657-9639, and gave a report of guardianship abuse to a very nice lady named Cassandra. I gave her Ken Mullinax's name and phone number. Thanks to Richard (I think it was Richard?) who posted Mr. Mullinax's contact info here, and "Right Wing Nut Job" over at Sherri's place who found it for me when I was in a panic. Hopefully some good will come of that??? Posted by: Mary in LA at April 8, 2005 2:41 PM I called Georgia Child Advocacy at 3:25 EST, to see if they have an adult protection unit, and the woman there was very nice, and told me that I had reached just the oversight agency, and who I needed to contact was the 'Defacts'(sp.?) for the county involved, and asked me what county Mae was located in. I told her Troup County, and she gave me the number for: Troup County Defacts Adult Protective Services Unit, (706)298-7100 I am calling in just a minute to see if they will let me email the articles and letters regarding Mae to them. But please, you all call them, too!! Then, I called the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and asked if I could report a situation of corruption: I explained the situation as well as I could, and the operator there was very patient with me, and was trying to think of whom to put me through to, but said that what I really needed to do was report this to an advocacy agency. She then did spend the time to look up two advocacy agencies which she thought would work in Troup County. The first is a Woman's advocacy and domestic abuse agency (didn't catch the exact name), at 800-903-0111 (toll free number). The second was a statewide agency for Senior Citizens at (487) 923-0657. I am calling them, now, but wanted to get this out to you all. Posted by: juleni at April 8, 2005 2:44 PM A quick update: I called the agency for senior citizens number that was given to me (see above), and a woman there told me that I should actually call: The Area Agency on Aging, which covers all of middle Georgia, at (478) 751-6160. I would imagine that both this and the Georgia Div. on Aging services(404-657-5258), which Sherri called earlier (and I will also follow up with a call to) should both be called. Posted by: juleni at April 8, 2005 3:00 PM I sent a link to the WorldNetDaily story to Drudge. I hope he picks it up. Posted by: Mary in LA at April 8, 2005 3:01 PM Called the Troup County Defacts Adult Protective Services Unit, and was put through to the voicemail of Hugh Parton (sp.?) of Adult Protective Services, where I left a message. His voicemail advised to call the Troup County Adult Protective Services Intake unit, at 1-888-774-0152, which I will call next. Posted by: juleni at April 8, 2005 3:05 PM The Area Agency on Aging, listed above, told me that they don't actually cover Troup County, but also referred me to the same Troup County Adult Protective Services Intake unit number at 1-888-774-0152. I called them, and they have two voicemail boxes (no one answered, and they may be closed for the day, but in case anyone listens to the voicemail over the weekend, I left voicemails at both voicemail boxes). Two agencies advised me to call TROUP COUNTY ADULT PROTECTIVE SERVICES, DIVISION OF AGING SERVICES' SENIOR ADULT VICTIMS ADVOCATE HOTLINE at: 1-888-774-0152. I did so, and left messages at both the Senior Adult Victims Hotline and the Adult Protective Services hotline voicemails (two voicemails are at that line). They may have been closed, but I don't know if someone may not listen to the messages over the weekend. There is a woman receptionist still answering at Troup County Adult Protective Services, at 706-298-7100, I do not have a fax machine to be able to send a fax to him....CAN ANYONE SEND HIM A FAX, PLEASE?? Thank you!! Posted by: juleni at April 8, 2005 3:47 PM It is 5:09 pm EST. Joseph Farah is on the internet live, broadcasting, talking about Mae and her dehydration. You can listen in for one more hour, at: www.goldenbroadcasters.com Posted by: juleni at April 8, 2005 4:03 PM I just faxed the WorldnetDaily article to Mr. Parton, with this cover letter: "Dear Mr. Parton: I urge you to take Mae Magouirk into protective custody. She is being held at West Georgia Hospice, where food and water are being withheld from her in direct contradiction of her written wishes, and in violation of federal hospice regulations. Mrs. Magouirk is not terminally ill and should never have been admitted to hospice care. She has been without food and water for nearly two weeks. If she is not taken into protective custody immediately and given rehydration and food, she will surely die. Mr. Ken Mullinax, her nephew, wants to take care of her and is seeking her release. He can be reached at (205) 408-7598. Again, sir, I urge you to act quickly to save the life of this woman. Sincerely yours, Posted by: Mary in LA at April 8, 2005 4:21 PM Joseph Farah's show is a World Net Daily show. Just wanted to let everyone know that it is a call in show today, so CALL IN ABOUT MAE! The number for the show is 877-232-4855. Posted by: juleni at April 8, 2005 4:21 PM MARY IN LA! THANK YOU!! Posted by: juleni at April 8, 2005 4:23 PM Hmph. My fax didn't go through. A problem on his end, apparently. I'll try again later, but unfortunately, it's after 5:00 now, so he may have gone home, I suppose. Posted by: Mary in LA at April 8, 2005 4:24 PM Okay, this time it went through. Posted by: Mary in LA at April 8, 2005 4:29 PM You're welcome, Juleni! :-) Posted by: Mary in LA at April 8, 2005 4:32 PM On a side note: Georgia can verify that we are long from giving up the fight for Terri. We are truly becoming a force to be reconned with. Posted by: Julie at April 8, 2005 4:40 PM Kenneth, Posted by: Right Wing Nut Job at April 8, 2005 4:57 PM |

Out of curiosity, has anyone posted information about exactly what aortic dissection is? I've never heard of the condition and am curious as to how common it is, what can cause it, what the treatment is (and how effective it is), etc. Also, am I right in assuming that because Mae's living will is under debate that she is at this time unable to speak for herself? Exactly what is her condition like? Has there been any brain damage?
I guess what I'm getting at is, why on earth isn't she being allowed to make her own decisions if she's not comotose or terminal? What is preventing her from saying "I want _____ to happen to me"?
