Vatican source: Pope given last rites

Topics: News

As we continue to mourn Terri's inhumane killing, Pope John Paul II - the "Pope of the People," has been given last rites.

Pope John Paul II was given the last rites of the Roman Catholic Church late Thursday night as his health deteriorated, a Vatican source has told CNN.

The sacrament does not necessarily mean that the pope is dying. Last rites -- also known as the sacrament of the sick or extreme unction -- are commonly given to people who are seriously ill as well. The pope received the sacrament after he was shot by a would-be assassin in 1981.

I can't stress enough how deeply hurt I am by the passing of Terri Schiavo & the millions of people the United States Government & Congress has let down during the course of this terrible plan to starve Terri until death.

Some say it's a "Sign of the times" but if we all (Citizens) don't join together in "Unity" and take action from here on out for the greater good of this nation then WHY ARE OUR MEN AND WOMEN LOSING THEIR LIVES FIGHTING FOR JUSTICE, FREEDOM'S AND RIGHTS?
Because of "Weapon's of mass distruction"? No...it's been proven that the intormation given to head chief of security for this great nation was false. Will the information given "later" on Terrie Schiavo and her condition and/or hopes to recover also be "false"? We shall see.

My prayers go out to the entire family on this sad day and I feel that Terri's name should never die or fade with the changing winds of politics.

I hope to see hundreds and even thousands of non-profit organizations started in her name for years to come to counteract this terrible reality that our country witnessed today & that it goes down in History to ensure the mistakes of these Judges and Congressional Leaders take note and never forget their part. May God Bless each of you and forgive all those involved in removing Terrie from her feeding tube. I would call this a new form of political "Abortion".

We need to keep in mind the very sadness of the way in which Theresa was forced to die. This was not a death with dignity.

For the moment let us continue our prayer for the Holy Father who is continuing in ill health. His condition must be worsening.

Remember one thing and that is this man has had the opportunity to give his best to everyone in life. He will soon be with the Lord, and he will be reunited in spirit with Theresa Schindler.

The Vatican fought very hard for her life and to show that what was happening is wrong, yet too many people refused to listen. This is very disheartening to think about the consequences of that failure to listen.

Ah, it happened to Isaiah, Jeremiah and the other prophets. They lived in unjust times too, and the people refused to listen.

I love the Holy Father. I think his suffering is closely linked to Terri's suffering. They will become known in history as a pair like J.F.K and Martin Luther King.
