« Florida Senators: Change Your Vote and Save Terri (Updated) | Main | Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus Filed » March 18, 2005Subpoenas on Their Way!Topics: Legislative Action ItemsFox News is reporting that House Government Reform Committee lawyers are on their way to Florida to deliver subpoenas to Michael Schiavo, to the Schindlers, (Terri's parents), and to two doctors and the hospice administrator where she now lives. The subpoenas call these people, and Terri, as witnesses and also require that her feeding and hydration not be suspended until they can investigate the case. It is very significant that Terri is named as a witness, because there are laws to protect federal witnesses. Also, the House and the Senate have delayed their Easter recess to take up these issues. AMEN ! PRAYERS BEING ANSWERED Posted by: keeka at March 18, 2005 11:41 AM Yeah, looks like the prayers are being answered. I don't know if Michael is willing to go all the way to Washington DC and bring Terri along with him to stand before the congress, but let's hope it will save Terri's life, for now! Posted by: Jane at March 18, 2005 11:47 AM Great News! Posted by: Beautiful Belgian Babe at March 18, 2005 11:51 AM I hope they also subpoena some of the nursing staff to testify who witnessed abuse by husband. And also the lifelong friend of Terri's whose testimony disagreed with the husband's as to Terri's wishes and which Judge Greer dismissed. Or else, we'll have the parents against the same people parroting their usual excuses and which the public and media have already bought into to. Posted by: chris k at March 18, 2005 11:52 AM It would also be great if they can have the 33 doctors, including 15 board certified neurosurgeons, who submitted affidavits testify that Terri did not have adequate testing done to determine that she is in a persistent vegetative state. Thank God for the good guys! Posted by: lourdes at March 18, 2005 12:09 PM Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! Our elected officials are acting with the powers we have given them to investigate why and how a state judge can order a disabled American citizen to be put to death. Of course Terri should be called to testify.. She is her own best witness. I am deeply gratified by the actions of Majority Leader Frist and Senator Santorum, and also Speaker Hastert and others who are also calling her to testify. Posted by: arlynmary at March 18, 2005 12:10 PM I am in fast and prayer for the second Friday in a row for Terri to be be free to live and to live free. The state sanctioned torture/murder is a mockery of justice and must not stand. Posted by: Alnot at March 18, 2005 12:37 PM THIS IS INSANITY!!!!! I think Terri Schiavos husband is trying so hard to have her die because he has a fear that she may eventually be able to speak and tell the world the truth about his treatment of her. When he was asking for 20 million dollars to take care of her he never said a word about her so called "wishes" He claims he wont abandon her, but at the same time he has blocked her from getting any treatment or therapy that may help her, to me, that IS abandonment. I continue to pray that Terris parents will gain custody of her and be allowed to integrate her back into their loving family. Posted by: Gail at March 18, 2005 1:46 PM To see any person in a state where there is no quality of life is inhumane. No person with compassion, empathy, and love for human life would let a loved one or a stranger go threw another day in which they had no control over any part of there body and/or life. As a care giver, at the end of your shift you go home and you pray to god that there life be taken. There is no joy in taking care of these people who deserve to be in a better place. I would not wish the condition terri has been in on my worst enemies. God has not kept her alive, a tube has. Posted by: created at March 18, 2005 4:10 PM |

The House Government Reform Committee has shown its composed of idiots in the way its handling the supposed baseball steriods scandal. Now it's showing that it wants to waste the taxpayers time and money on a matter that it shouldn't be involved with, going to extraordinary lengths to try to insert itself and waste our money.
Here's hoping that right thinking Floridians will decide that being in contempt of Congress is the right thing to do. This is a clear example of why most Americans currently hold Congress in contempt.
