« BOTH SENATORS WITH LAST NAME REED ARE HOLDING UP LEGISLATION FOR TERRI | Main | Latest Update on US Senate (Updated) » March 17, 2005Statement by the PresidentTopics: NewsMarch 17, 2005 The case of Terri Schiavo raises complex issues. Yet in instances like this one, where there are serious questions and substantial doubts, our society, our laws, and our courts should have a presumption in favor of life. Those who live at the mercy of others deserve our special care and concern. It should be our goal as a nation to build a culture of life, where all Americans are valued, welcomed, and protected ? and that culture of life must extend to individuals with disabilities. YEA! THANKYOU, MR. PRESIDENT YOU TRULY ARE OUR FEARLESS LEADER! Just out of curiosity. Why are democrats so pro death? I am so thankful Terri gets to live! Posted by: Linda at March 17, 2005 5:59 PM Ok, now I feel for the family and this situation is terrible - no doubt. But, the bottom line is, this is a situation that is NONE of the federal governments business and certainly is none of OUR business. I understand and respect both sides, and to say Democrats is "pro death" is like saying Republicans are "pro suffering". Everyone has the right to have and be emotional over this, and to voice those emotions, but NO ONE has the right to trample on family business - even the federal government. Think about it - yes, this is an extraordinary family crisis but would you want the federal government intervening in YOUR extraordinary family crisis, or even the power too? If you say yes, that is very scary. Posted by: Brian at March 22, 2005 3:12 PM Dear Journalists: In my opinion, medical decisions that are to be made by Physicians result in tragedy when interpreted by the Courts. So what if Terri is in a vegetative state, (not on a coma) when she can count on her parents for therapy, care, and perhaps rehabilitation? Has anyone paid attention to the video with her husband? She does not smile, and turns away her head from him; that is not the case when she sees her parents. How can anyone condemn her to die? Is this America? No one can help this human being now, who is seriously brain damaged, but otherwise healthy and very much alive. The law has dismissed her in favor of her husband's wishes and ordered that she should be put to death against her wishes and beliefs as a Roman Catholic fervent and church going individual: IT IS A MORTAL SIN TO TERMINATE ONE’S LIFE. It is the duty of investigative reporters to see that justice is ultimately carried out. Years ago Larry King interviewed the husband. The parents at that time were trying to get all the medical records. There were findings that placed suspicion on the husband, but Mr. Schindler said that everything would come out in the very near future. All records were sealed and in trying to get help and justice for his daughter, he found a gag order and no where to go. It is clear that we do not know if Michael Schiavo intended for his wife to die; if he abused her, if he injected her with insulin to cause her death as reported by one of Mrs. Schiavo's nurses; if he was restrained from coming to visit her because he demanded not to follow the doctor's orders. His attorney says that he was prohibited from coming to the facilities because he demanded more than excellent care for his wife. So clearly, both sides confirm there was such a restraining order. The question is what brought that on. Records suggest that after her collapse she suffered broken bones, which was reported to the police; that he was seen in anger toward those helping his wife; that a co-worker and friend says that Terri wanted out of her marriage. All this, and M. Schiavo being the only person in control and calling the shots. It does not smell right. He may be innocent; on the other hand, he may very well be guilty. The media should inquire and subpoena the records. The concealment was a disaster for Terri Schiavo and it is not good for the rest of the population. Unless all these records are made available; the public who is suffering anguish and stress will never know. We need to do what is right and not what is "politically correct". Please see that you do your part. Respectfully counting on you for looking out for us, ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ **************************************************************** From: Jonathan
Petition to impeach Judge Greer: http://www.petitiononline.com/ijg520/ Pass this on! Pat Posted by: Chachi Novellas-Bengochea at March 22, 2005 3:21 PM Please let Terri die in peace. It is horrible what you are doing, trying to prolong a life that isnt worth living. If you truly believe that your version of god is a compassionate god, then let this woman go and rest with her creator. It is really horrible that you wont let her go. It only shows how selfish you yourselves are. I am praying for her family, as losing someone you love is never an easy thing to do; I am also praying that Terri dies peacefully.
