Sample Letter to the Editor Addressing Eating Disorder

Recently, the AP ran an article claiming that Terri Schiavo's collapse and subsequent brain damage was caused by an eating disorder.

Newspapers across the country picked up this AP article and ran it, or created their own articles and stated the eating disorder myth as fact.

This is just one of many myths being perpetuated by the media and it needs to be corrected. Dawn, at WriteWingBlog has prepared a sample letter to the editor that you can send to your newspaper that tells the truth about this bogus claim.

She highly encourages you to change the wording a bit to fit your own style and to add/delete information as you see fit. This will keep the letter original (newspapers don't like to run letters that have been submitted to other papers).

Doing a little research before sending your letter can be helpful. If you can, find out if your paper ran an article (especially one written by the Associated Press) on the eating disorder. The AP article would look like this.
