Roses of Protest on Easter

Topics: News

On Easter Sunday, starting at 3 PM, supporters of Terri Schiavo will leave roses in front of Michael Schiavo's home. Starting at 3 PM, individuals will each leave a rose for in honor of Terri.

"We are leaving these roses for Michael Schiavo to tell him that Terri life has dignity and worth. Even though Michael has said publicly that she died 15 years ago, on this Easter Sunday we celebrate that Terri is very much alive." -- Rev. Patrick Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition

"As a woman, it is troubling for me to see Michael Schiavo continue to treat Terri as if she were his personal property. This Easter we are praying that Michael will be touched by God's love and healing power." -- Brandi Swindell, National Director of Generation Life

Since some of us are far away, is there anyone we can send the rose down to in the local area that will deliver it for us?...I am afraid If I send it directly he will call them and have them held at the distrubution point like the food we sent....

Anyone?

This is such a beautiful idea.

I would also like to know if we can participate from afar, in some way?

Over the Easter weekend our family spent two days and slept on the grass at night in front of the Woodside Hospice to support dear Terri. On Easter Sunday we joined the caravan with Reverend Mahoney to Michael Schiavo's house to leave a rose and Easter lily for Terri in front of his house. We were being a voice for Terri. We prayed and sang praises on the corner of his block and each woman in the group proceeded down the block to his house to lay the flowers and say a prayer for Terri, who has been hanging on in a fight for her life. Michael and his girlfriend were both home. They turned the water sprinklers on to douse us with water. Ironically, he freely provided plenty of water to all the protesters and reporters who now were sprinkled with it everywhere, but he has denied even a drop of water to Terri! In the midst of this demonstration his girlfriend pulled her vehicle out of the driveway and kept backing it into the crowd, no matter how much we backed out of the way. She appeared angry as she took off down the road. It is so sad how calloused both their hearts are!
