Polnow, you're suggesting that Michael's massive conflicts of interest over Terri's condition constitute a marriage that should be protected? What a mean world you live in. All he ever had to do was divorce her with her parents' promise of permanent guardianship and then their refusal of any money left after he spent her rehab money on legal bills. He wants her dead. Pray for Michael. Pray for Judge Greer. Pray for the Schindlers. Posted by: Therese Z at March 18, 2005 12:59 PM polnow, people make their own decisions when they are able to. terri is not choosing to starve to death, her husband is choosing to kill her. Lord have mercy on your soul. Posted by: Teri J at March 18, 2005 1:01 PM I believe that no person should have to live in that condiction.Put yourselevs in that bed;would you want to live like that and have your family clean you daily 2-5 times a day? because you are unable to make it to the bathroom.Quality of live Vs. quanity of life? After a child turns 18 years of age she/he is an adult and the parents have no right to step in and make any decisions, especially if she/he are married, than all decisions fall to thier husband/wife. Posted by: jeannette at March 18, 2005 1:27 PM Mathew 18 works well for Terri too Posted by: Roger at March 18, 2005 1:27 PM Mathew 18 Whenever two or three are gathered together in His Name........ Posted by: Roger at March 18, 2005 1:29 PM It's time to let her go and honor the wish of her and her husband. Thanks to you trying to save a woman's life that has nothing more then death to live for, you give the Federal government to power to control private lives and determine what wishes a family can choose to honor. I feel sorry for you. Yes life is a short gift, but the life equal death and it's time to let Terri go. My advice and pray for you is that you get your OWN life and stop trying to live other peoples. Posted by: Michael at March 18, 2005 1:29 PM Jeanette....careful you don't project your own ego onto Terri. She's not the same person today that she was 15 years ago. How can anyone know what she likes or what bothers her? All of us can say that based on how we are today, we wouldnt' want to live like that. But we really don't know how we'd feel if we lost that much of our intellect in one massive moment in time. Perhaps she's capable of being quite contented. We all were content as babies to poop in our pants, yet we enjoyed and recognized our parents attention. When the intellect level changes, your desires, needs, and wants are very likely completely different than they were when you were a regular member of society. Posted by: Ceci at March 18, 2005 1:32 PM Michael, we're not asking the gov't in interfere in private lives. We're asking them to get involved in an investigation that has short circuited. The public doesn't know the truth about Terri's condition. The cat scan she had many years ago is no longer considered relevant by doctors to make such a life and death decision as declaring someone PVS. Functional MRI and PET scans are required today as they contain much more detailed information to make that kind of diagnoses. Docs are also estimatiing that up to 40% of PVS patients may be misdiagnosed. If Terri is one of those, she'll suffer horribly dehydrating to death. Posted by: Ceci at March 18, 2005 1:36 PM polnow, being pro-marriage doesn't mean being pro-spousal abuse. Posted by: TSO at March 18, 2005 1:38 PM I'm going to continue to pray for Terri's recovery...Contrary to some of you, I believe that Terri has a right to Life. Her parents want her alive! They love her....I don't think it's just to take away someone's life just because someone claims that it was her "wish". If the parents are willing to take care of her, let them. And, Lord willing, she will recover. Keep up the great work everyone! :-) Posted by: Jasmine at March 18, 2005 1:47 PM Please try to keep your scripture comments out. You have to realize that slowly but surely, the new generations are growing up and becoming active voters and most of them are not religious (compared to older folks). Generation X, Generation Digital, etc.. has to be motivated in other ways than religious. Cold hard facts (ie. MRI, CAT scans, chance for life, and YES money does come into play.. Money because even if Terri's parents took the medical bills, those bills have to be covered by insurance and other venues (unless they declare bankruptcy..). Should insurance companies take the hit, it will be passed on to us, and while most would give money to Terri.. what about the 1000s of other people who come into the same position, after a while, you start wanting us to sacrifice our living for someone else, and that is not realistic nor logical. Posted by: Joey at March 18, 2005 1:55 PM Jasmine, Posted by: Pimp at March 18, 2005 1:56 PM In this case, Terry is unable to communicate her wishes. Also, if you were in her position, and you had a husband that is already with someone else and just wants you to die, but then you also had parents that wanted to keep you, and that loved you and wanted to nurse you back to health- which would you choose? if you even had a choice......I'd choose to live. Posted by: Jasmine at March 18, 2005 2:25 PM Life does not end with the ending of your life on this earth. It is but a stage of your entire life. Please allow people to decide for themselves when it is time to pass from this life to the next. The majority of the people and the government should not tell us what religous views are right. Posted by: Larry at March 18, 2005 2:28 PM Just as if it doesn't fit you must aquit. Without a will Teri can not be killed! Mike needs to take a hike... Posted by: Linda at March 18, 2005 3:10 PM It is Linda who has made the best comment here. You are right. We do not know Terri's wishes because the husband is not reliable. He is openly living with another woman he calls his fiance, who is implicitly involved in everything that is happening. He has been heard to state that he "wants the bitch dead". That does not sound like a loving husband to me. He has deliberately prevented Terri from continuing her therapy that would have ensured her survival. Again that does not show the commitment for marriage. He refuses to allow her to receive the Eucharist, showing that he has no regard for her spiritual life, just as he has no regard for her physical life. I agree, Michael (I wonder who that is....) should take a hike. He should stop pretending that he loves his wife and he should start being honest. Also George Felos should consider falling on his own sword and taking George Greer with him.... Posted by: Maggie at March 18, 2005 11:31 PM |

God works in mysterious ways.
The same people who want a constitutional amendment for the Defense of Marriage…now want to undermine marriage.
Go figure.
At what point do people get to make their own decisions?
