Joint Statement of Speaker of the House J. Dennis Hastert and House Majority Leader Tom DeLay

Topics: News

WASHINGTON, March 17 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Speaker of the House J. Dennis Hastert and House Majority Leader Tom DeLay today released the following statement:

"It's unconscionable that Senate Democrats led by Senators Harry Reid and Ron Wyden would not allow a vote to move forward on critical legislation the House passed last night to save and protect Terri Schiavo's life. House Republicans knew we had a moral obligation to act and we did just that last night. As Terri Schiavo lays helpless in Florida, one day away from the unthinkable and unforgivable, the Senate Democrats refused to join Republicans to act on her behalf."

It's funny... I was just thinking that it is unconscionable that Hastert and DeLay would attempt to make political hay out of a medical/moral/ethical tragedy, but that's just crazy old me, I guess.

My sister was in a car wreck over two decades ago. It left her with brain damage, she is unable to care for herself and some people would like to label her a vegetable... She is not a VEGETABLE ! she is a real live human being .

Terri like Nancy is not on any other life support other than her feeding tube.

It makes me sick to think Michael Schiavo is spending the money provided for Terri's care on legal fees and himself!
SOMEONE NEEDS TO JERK THAT GUARDIANSHIP AWAY FROM HIM NOW!!!!!

PLEASE SAVE TERRI SCHIAVO'S LIFE. DO NOT ALLOW
THE UNTHINKABLE TO HAPPEN IN AMERICA. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE DEMOCRATS THAT WOULD NOT ALLOW LEGISLATION TO HELP TERRI? THEY ARE PUNISHING THEMSELVES AS WELL AS AMERICA. NOTHING FRUITFUL WILL COME OUT OF THIS. SHE HAS A FAMILY THAT WILL CARE FOR HER. PROTECT HER. SO HELP YOU GOD!

To gaze away from evil and to walk away as it eats its victim only means it'll come after you later.

Liberals are their own worst enemies if they only look long enough in the mirror.

And I speak as an ex-socialist/democrat who vowed never to vote Republican. I looked long in the mirror and changed over what I saw.
