Please do not murder Terri. Videos show her to be very responsive & recognition skills are sharp. Criminals & animals are put do death mercifully, and to starve an aware person to death is ghastly. We should all be very much afraid of our future if we should suffer a stroke or be in an accident...We can't shove it under the carpet and think what we don't know won't hurt us, because we will know.
So many people come out of coma's after months and years and are doing very well. She is not even in a coma.

My cousin Nancy Cruzan was in the same state. I don't feel that any of you have the right to say anything about what you would do until you are in those shoes. Her soul has already passed away, it passed on the night when this all started. Let her body go.

Posted by: kdc at March 18, 2005 1:26 PM

There is a very much alive woman inside Terri. It shows in her smile. It is obvious that Terri is alert and responsive to people. It is a shame that the courts will listen to a selfish selfish man like Michael Shiavo. Michael take your "new family" and leave Terri alone. You don't want her, but her parents and the rest of the world do! I work for a clinic that treats people in Terri's condition all of the time. There is therapy for her. Therapy that will make a difference! Keep Terri alive!!

Since when does anyone have the say if someone is ready to die? Maybe Teri said she would never want to live this way--but now that she is she can change her mind. Her husband doesn't know or care what she wants now. If her parents are willing to take care of her, let them do it. Then let GOD decide when she dies, not her ignorant husband!

Posted by: sherri at March 18, 2005 5:03 PM

Then Sherri why don't you just stay out of it. Have you ever been in this situation. My guess is that you have not. So until you are in his shoes maybe you should stop calling people ignorant, because the only one who looks it is you.

Posted by: kcruzan at March 18, 2005 6:08 PM

Kcruzan, why so hostile? Terri is not necessarily in the same case as your cousin. There is enough evidence that Terri is not in a persistent vegetative state -- eyes tracking, laughing, crying, reacting to people. She's never had an MRI to determine the actual state of her brain damage. The CAT scans she had aren't detailed enough. Doesn't she deserve better than a slow, agonizing death by starvation?

Posted by: Mary in LA at March 18, 2005 6:37 PM

If you want to know the truth about Terri and her condition, and about what a sick person her husband is, just read the legal documents. They are online for everyone to read for themselves.

Posted by: JJ at March 21, 2005 7:54 PM

How can anyone who has read even a quarter of what is out there about Terri vote against her? It is sooo obvious that something is wrong here! A family loves her...a husband???...wants her money...a judge is not paying attention and all over the world, people turn their heads and say persistant vegitative state. If we can all together make a huge noise, as was heard last night, maybe Terri will not run out of time. If she does, maybe the move last night will cause someone to look very closely at this case, Michael Shiavo and Judge Greer. How can the information Michael gave two years after Terris illness even be considered. So what if Terri really said it, TWO YEARS LATER? Watching this family watch their beautiful daughter parish is just sickening! Please Terri, hang on for just a little longer, we pray that the right people will finally figure it out and save you! With all our love, hope and prayers, the B family.

I to had a daughter that they claimed to be in the same *state* as Terri. She only lived 6 months with a feeding tube. I didn't have to make or have anyone to make the decision to pull out her feeding tube. I would have surely not allowed it. Too starve someone is truly punishment.I want and pray that terri lives. One thing I don't understand is this. " when this all first happened they said Terri's heart had stopped. If it did for a certain amount of time , and she truly didn't want to *live like that* as in life support... why did they or her husband allow them to revive her? My daughter was dead on arrival. By the time they they did get *her back* she did have brain damage due to lack of oxygen. So I am truly curious about that.

I find it amazing that we can give a murderer of a nine year old little girl (Florida) 3 hot meals a day, but we will stand by and let Michael starve Terri. I just don't understand the American people who think this is right!
I was told in earlier years, that if someone had a baby born with defects or with signs of mental retardation, that they would just put them in a box to let them die, I had a hard time believing those stories growing up, and I am sure my grand children will have a hard time believing this one. The sad truth is, that the stories I have heard and this story are all to real, and it just goes to show that overtime, some people have remained heartless and cruel. I hope the good Lord takes mercy on them during their trip to HELL.

This is not a debate, because there is nothing to debate about. We are Americans and live in a country where freedom and life and liberty are for everyone. We live in a free establishment that says everyone should be given the right to fair treatment whether mentally handicapped or not, whether with physical handicaps or not. No one has the right to starve another human being who is still breathing and moving and living. We wont do this to an animal or to a prisnor, or allow it to happen to protesters who go on hunger strikes. What makes it OK in this case? because of hearsay! We wont allow assited suicides and we as a society try to prevent people who are despondent from jumping off bridges or shooting themselves or taking overdosees of drugs, Why? Because we are a nation who cares about the preservation of life. I have been a nurse for 18 years and have worked in many different units as well as the ER. I have seen many patients who are well aware of being so close to dying and who have "Living Wills" still want to LIVE!!! if given the chance they choose live! People who are cancer patients, people who are sick and dying still want LIFE!!! How dare a person like Mike Schiavo consort with another woman, get her pregnant and have 2 children by her, go on with his life but keep Terri from going on with hers. He cannot care about the well being of this woman that he once took vows with, that he once shared trust with and then treat her like she is less then human because she can no longer give him what he feels he deserves. Her parents love her and will take care of her. They RESPECT her enough to see that her life is worth more then a slow horrible death by STARVATION. No one not Doctors or Lawywers or Judges or other people can say they can for sure know that she is not suffering. Its INHUMAN to do this to her and only INHUMAN beings would want this under the diguise of the constitution. You beings who want to do this to her are not worthy of being called humans. You are worthy only of being connected to the true MONSTERS HITLER! STALIN! LENNIN! SADDAM! BIN LADIN! SATAN!!! There is a God and Hell is real. If Terri is prevented from life, Gods justice will be fair, his judgement equal to what his laws say "THOU SHALT NOT KILL" for those who take a life and think they have the Right! I ask those who do believe in Life and Equality to Pray for Terri to the Creator who gave life to all of us. God does Listen... Because Love would never deny Life......

If this isn't an argument for an immediate change to our judges than I don't know what is. For God's sake people, how can this is be happening in this country? Why are we so helpless? It's the Shiavo family now, it will be our family next. In one way or another, our society is going to have to exist under the curse of these judges who as 'unelected' officials determine how we live our very lives. Any understaning of the law, the very basis of our societal paradyme, has been ripped away. Nothing is safe anymore.
Please, please tell your friends the facts that the media won't dissiminate to the public. Be informed. If there is not a consequence to these actions by the judges, it will only get worse. I'm not sure anymore than we can undo this slippery slope to murdering our own. Our infants, our elderly and now our disabled. Who's next? Surely not the convicts. They are fully protected by the lunatics in power.
