« UPDATE: FROM: CHERYL FORD, NURSE SPOKESPERSON SCHINDLER FOUNDATION | Main | Misdiagnosing PVS » March 18, 2005Email from physician reader: If Terri dies, "Demand Autopsy" to discover not only the immediate cause of death, but the proximate cause of death.Topics: Medical IssuesLet's all do our best to make sure this isn't necessary, but if it is ... From the reader:For future reference... just in case (I pray this option never need to be used) One need not wait for a future reporter to dig up the evidence. In fact, when she dies, the crime will be covered up by cremation without autopsy unless we act immediately to assure this is not the case. Michael Schiavo intends to cremate Terri immediately upon her death. Please see http://www.co.pinellas.fl.us/forensics/policy/policystatement.htm#CA . The Medical Examiner must approve all such requests. If Terri is killed by Michael and "Judge" [and Jury] Greer, then everyone must contact the Medical Examiner and demand an autopsy to discover not only the immediate cause of death, but the proximate cause of death. It is his ethical, legal, and moral responsibilty to certify that a crime did not occur. Even Forensic Pathologist Michael Baden publicly stated that he believes that her original injuries were consitent with strangulation. The Medical Examiner MUST perform an investigative autopsy prior to signing off on the cause(s) of death. He MAY use consultants should he wish. The Medical Examiner can (and should) be subject to adverse license action by the Medical Board should he fail to exercise appropriate judgement in accordance with the state medical practice act. Allowing cremation without investigation and postmortem examination is not only malpractice, but it is illegal. If Terri dies from this recent tube removal, we must all contact him immediately and demand justice for Terri. If a crime was committed, then several people need to go to jail including those who conspired to kill her (and cover it up)... Michael Schiavo, his live-in girlfriend, "Judge" Greer, the hospice staff, the physicians and those politicians and judges who failed to act on her behalf. If Terri dies, Micheal Schiavo will have her cremated right away. We will not have time to request an autopsy then. We should make the request now. If they have covered all state avenues, are there any other federal avenues? Does anyone know? Posted by: Miranda at March 18, 2005 4:36 PM We can pray to an absolutely Sovereign God that He will be sovereign. My heart wants to pray that God will not only sustain her, but absolutely and totally heal her. I find it hard to believe that this present evil will stand, but I trust absolutely in God's love and sovereign power. Lord Jesus, please be sovereign in this matter. Please may Your will be done. Posted by: Bob Edwards at March 18, 2005 4:36 PM Now listening to an attorney commenting on CNN about Felos' statement. He said that some new things were mentioned: 2 new federal law suits were filed today. And this attorney said that if this is the case, then the federal court could order the replacement of the feeding tube. Posted by: chris K at March 18, 2005 4:42 PM wHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE, WHO HAVE A POLITICAL Posted by: Jim Schrenker at March 18, 2005 4:43 PM I'm so surprised by the system. This should not be happening!! Posted by: Dana at March 18, 2005 4:47 PM Because, Jim, there is a lot of evidence out there to suggest that the court's findings are incorrect and that Terri is not in a PVS. If she is not in a PVS, then she will experience the sensation of dying by starvation and dehydration. What is wrong with double-checking findings based on medical examinations that are more than 10 years old? Our outcry is meant to save Terri from a death that is so cruel and unusual that we will not even apply it to convicted murderers or terrorists. That's why we're outraged and fighting for her life. Posted by: Linda at March 18, 2005 4:49 PM I am on the phone with their office right now. Posted by: Dean at March 18, 2005 4:50 PM Putting aside the husband's "right" to allow his wife to die. How can anyone think that STARVATION is a humane way to kill your wife. Be a man, take a pillow and do the job, otherwise keep feeding her. Posted by: Jeff at March 18, 2005 4:53 PM They put me into the voicemail of someone named Bill Pellen. He is apparently in charge of investigations for the medical examiner. I left a message saying I wanted an immediate autopsy. We'll see if he calls back. Posted by: Dean at March 18, 2005 4:54 PM Jim, they aren't trying to tell Michael how to live his life. They are trying to keep him from preventing his wife from living hers. There's a big difference. Read the history of the case, that she never had a living will, that she is cognizant of her surroundings, that she possibly has the ability to eat and drink if hand fed (Judge Greer has forbidden even trying), that she can hear what's going on around her (her husband won't allow them to turn the tv on, so he must believe she is aware) THen read the medical definition of PVS. If Terry is in a PVS, so were my children until they got to be about 6 months old. Good thing Judge Greer wasn't around to prevent me from feeding them. When my grandmother died, there was a mandatory waiting period in FL for cremation. I don't know if that still stands, but it was long enough that we decided not to cremate her but to bury her. Posted by: carson at March 18, 2005 4:57 PM Called some Senators (including Hillary). I am impressed with the GOP ones (they are actually trying to do something) but the Dems have failed yet again. I am emailing some of the bigger bloggers to cover the story. We need more people to see the video's of Terri interacting with the people around her! It may help "enlighten" our ignorant bloggers out there. (see http://www.blogsforterri.com/video.php) CQ and Michelle are over this like white on rice and black on a pot. But where are Instapundit, Powerline and the other major bloggers on this story? Don't forget or give up...keep calling your Senator! But these jokers are excused because they are in an authoritive position. Goes to show you how our system really works. I'm not from your country so I'm afraid my say may not have as much clout but I did the next best thing. Inform the peoples and much prayers for Terri and her family!Terri deseverse to live, she's definitely not brain dead, just handicapped.I small an agenda! Saturday, February 12, 2005 A case for Criminal Investigation of Michael Schiavo: 1) Nurses’ testimony: Heidi Law, Carla Sauer-Iyer, Carolyn Johnson have been ignored and dismissed without hearing; each testified that Michael was abusive to Terri and may have attempted to kill her by insulin injection and attempts to induce pneumonia by turning the thermostat in her room to 64 degrees. 2) Michael Baden, top forensic pathologist in country and interviewed on Fox News National Television broadcast October 25, 2003 on Terri’s bone scan and injuries states that: a) Terri’s injuries are not consistent with a heart attack; no cardiac evidence to support it 3) Dr. William Hammesfahr, Nobel prize nominee and neurologist testified that Terri’s neck injuries are consistent with only one type of injury: that of strangulation. 4) Terri’s doctor, Dr. Gambone resigned; he had previously testified Terri would die within a few days of starvation/dehydration. Terri has an obvious will to live. 5) Michael has enlisted the services of a new doctor, Stanton Tripodis, who has 5 malpractice suits against him. Clearly, Michael is attempting to provide sub-standard care for his wife. Case no. 97007946C1 filed 11-25-97 6) Michael is committing adultery by living with another woman who has already born one child with another on the way, thereby creating an obvious conflict of interest as guardian. 7) Michael has committed both perjury (2 counts) and insurance fraud by promising to provide care and therapy for his wife in exchange for the court award of 1.2 million dollars in 1993. No care has ever been provided to Terri. 8) Michael Schiavo has also prevented Terri from undergoing a barium swallow test, a procedure necessary to ascertain the consistency of foods able to be taken by mouth. 9) Co-conspirator George J. Felos combined and conspired with Michael Schiavo to arrange for Terri's "free" stay at Hospice Woodside as part of an "exit protocol" designed to advance Felos' self-perceived messianic mission of "helping" incapacitated people to die by categorizing them as "terminal," warehousing them, and depriving them of therapy and rehabilitation services. (Attorney Felos is Director of Florida Right to Die and has testified that he can ascertain a person’s desire to die by “looking into their eyes and letting their spirit speak directly to him”) 10) Investigate Insurance company established in Jan 2001 at the home of Michael Schiavo and his girlfriend/fiancee Jody Centonze. (Jerger and Centonze Insurnace Agency Inc.) Michael is listed on the Board of Directors for the corporation. Note: Insurance is deliberately misspelled in the State of Florida Corporate filing, possibly to avoid investigation. 11) Michael continues to deny Terri the right to receive Holy Communion as part of her Catholic and civil right. http://hyscience.typepad.com/hyscience/2005/02/michael_schiavo_1.html "Enter one George Felos (foreground, right, with Michael Schiavo), a kind of weird, yoga practicing guru lawyer, who is fixated on helping people die. Felos, a board member of Hospice, has visions of dollars, ideation that features book signings and movie rights once Terri is dead. Not to mention all the fame and fortune that will accrue to the man who finally overturns the law that protects the handicapped, the elderly, and the terminally ill’s opportunity to live until they die – by natural means. "

He has also presented seminars and debated end-of-life issues for various professional, civic and religious groups, and leads meditation and personal growth workshops.
Schiavo's attorney George Felos is in the same boat as his client, but the two part company when it comes to motivation. Michael Schiavo may be induced by greed or selfishness, but George Felos is coming from a different, and even more sinister, position altogether. Felos has been regarded as a champion of the right-to-die movement for more than a decade. During that time, he's made no attempt to hide his inclination towards wacky New Age mysticism. According to the May 2001 article by the Times, Felos indicated that his practice of law – specifically cases pioneering the right-to-die movement – open new opportunities for spiritual growth. The Times story reports Felos first became interested in right-to-die cases 14 years ago, in the case of Estelle Browning. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=35379 http://www.michnews.com/artman/publish/article_7144.shtml The Department of Children & Families had asked for a 60-day delay in the removal of the tube, now set for March 18. The agency said it wanted time to investigate allegations of abuse and neglect against the woman's husband, Michael Schiavo. But Circuit Judge George W. Greer said those allegations and many others had been investigated in the past and found to be groundless. He said the agency was apparently trying to pull an end run around the court by getting involved at this late stage. The husband's attorney had criticized the last-minute attempt by the agency to step in, saying it was engineered by Gov. Jeb Bush and other state officials supporting the woman's parents, who are trying to keep her alive. The governor has said he will do anything within his power to save Terri Schiavo. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&e=4&u=/ap/20050310/ap_on_re_us/brain_damaged_woman Schiavo, for the uninitiated, suffered brain damage in 1990. Her husband Michael convinced a jury to award $1.3 million in 1993, $750,000 of which was earmarked for her rehabilitation. Instead, he stuck her in a nursing home, refused to pay for treatment, put her on the do not resuscitate list, went to court more than once to try to have her plug pulled, and finally succeeded yesterday. Maybe it was simply the plight of a poor woman or maybe it was the utter unlikability of her husband -- he shacked up with another woman, reportedly spent money earmarked for his wife’s rehab on lawyer fees to try to have her offed, and used the courts to short circuit any intervention by her parents -- but something about the case has struck a chord with the technerati. http://www.spectator.org/dsp_article.asp?art_id=5588 Posted by: Warrior for Jesus at March 18, 2005 5:14 PM Does anybody actually know anything about the character of the Pinellas County Medical Examiner? Posted by: Hunk Hondo at March 18, 2005 5:24 PM Weldon of Florida was just interviewed on FOX and he said that the president would now have to step in and issue an executive order. So, are we contacting him?? I also just called FOX to tell them that all over the blogs is the news from attorney Barbara Weller that on telling Terri that her feeding tube was being removed, she cried and said "I want to live" and that it took some time to try to quiet her down. And this before witnesses! I told them to get the attorney on. Unfortunately there are probably a number of "Mike's" henchmen to dispute the reaction. Felos claimed that communion was given Terri before tube was removed - by a Hospice priest....not her own. Posted by: chris K at March 18, 2005 5:26 PM Chris K. It's people like who let all the bad stuff happen all around in the name of your rights. What good is rights if there's no one speaking out for the ones that can't for themselves. I am not a political person; I vote Independent as did my dear parents before me. I am pro- life and always have been. Give Terri back to her next of kin of blood; her mother and let God help Teri have a chance to survive and thrive once again. Please keepyour prayers and recall that God watches the sparrow fall not an evil uncaring husband pull the plug. My opinions are my own but I feel Judge Greer should be removed from office, attorney Felos should be disbared and Michael Shivo should be arrested; beginning w/ adultery, abuse, and willful/premeditated murder. I pray atopsy won't be the only right Teri has left but if so alsoclose down that critical care facility and put those medical doctors out of business! Posted by: Mrs. Martha C. Cain at March 18, 2005 5:31 PM chris, the post on THIS site quoting the attorney said that Weller tried to coach Terri into saying "I want to live" but failed. There are also conflicting reports that when she was asked, "Do you want to die?" whether or not she answered. Certainly a false rumor going around that Terri actually said "I want to live" will not help. I'd like to see some info from first-hand witnesses. Is there anyone live-blogging from the hospice? Any open-source journalists out there? Call in from a cell phone to a podcast? Posted by: corrie at March 18, 2005 5:33 PM Well, Well, Michael Schiavo got what he wanted. Posted by: Chris at March 18, 2005 5:40 PM So, if I understand this correctly, at this point if someone was to administer a fatal injection to Terri there would be no criminal investigation? If there was a criminal investigation doesn't that show the perversity of the logic being used right now? Is there an impartial 3rd party on the scene? In other words , is there a federal marshall present in the room at all times? Posted by: Chris at March 18, 2005 5:50 PM It is horrible to have to put a person's life in the hands of the court. The only contribution I can make is to have my trust and living signed next monday because god forbid anyone go through this heinous situation for me. Posted by: Cherie at March 18, 2005 6:05 PM Terri needs everyone to pray the "Divine Mercy Chaplet." If you are not familiar with it go to the Divine Mercy website at www.thedivinemercy.org. There you will find everything we need to save Terri. Posted by: Mike at March 18, 2005 6:12 PM Well, Well Michael Schiavo got what he wanted ! Posted by: Christine at March 18, 2005 6:13 PM Sounds to me that someone is trying to hide something. If Michael really had the best interest for Terri, then he would want to know why his wife died. Not destroy everything about her. Once it's done, it's over, not just her death, but everything about what was actually happening to her. The only thing that would be for the best is that she would be with God. My sympathy to the rest of her family. Posted by: John F. Iowa at March 18, 2005 6:43 PM It seems that, just as conveniently Terri told Michael that if anything ever happened to her, she would not want to live... I suppose she also told him she wanted to be cremated too. Right Away. Posted by: JEGJr at March 18, 2005 7:36 PM I'll definitely encourage people to do contact the medical examiner, and do it myself should it come to that. I don't think it will help, though. Judge Greer will just order an immediate cremation and that will be that. He's already disregarded a congressional subpoena. He really needs to be taken off this case. Posted by: Beautiful Belgian Babe at March 18, 2005 9:58 PM Alan, I have no idea what you are trying to get across. I've been working and speaking for the rights of this victim, Terri, for some time because she has to have others speak for her. The abusive husband and his "triumverate" have denied every right to this defenseless woman. So, what's your point? Defending the defenseless is working for MY rights? Well, in one way that's true. Terri is all of us. And Corrie, you can tell Barbara Weller, Terri's attorney, that what she observed herself when telling Terri they were removing her feeding tube, is a "false rumor". You're getting your stories confused. She said Terri cried, tried to say she wanted to live and that it took some time to quiet her. Posted by: chris K at March 18, 2005 10:36 PM From Mike Brown's site, Spiritdaily.com: A nurse named Cheryl Ford who serves as spokesperson for Schindlers' -- parents of Terri Schiavo -- claimed today that when Schindler attorney Barbara Weller told Terri they were going to remove her feeding tube, "Terri began to cry and tried to say 'I want to live..' Attorney Weller said she had a difficult time calming Terri down." Can it be true that the Schiavo woman actually tried to speak? There are those who have testified that she has uttered a number of words and phrases through the years and with therapy would be able to speak sentences. These are initial reports to Spirit Daily. But we get it from Weller and a confirmation, through an intermediary, from the Schlindler family; Ford has called for volunteers to surround the hospice. Posted by: chris K at March 18, 2005 10:42 PM I think that it is just terrible that the courts are taking a weekend break.Terri may not have through the weekend since her tube has been removed, this is just so crazy and makes me sick to my stomach to know that she is laying there while alot of people including Micheal and his family shove food down their throats. And they are probably sitting around the dinner table laughing about what they have allowed to happen. It is so terrible! I just cannot believe that the courts have allowed this to happen. What in the world is wrong with our JUSTICE SYSTEM?????Terri , Honey we are continuing to pray that a miracle happens for you and that you may speak out and tell the whole world your side of the story. Someone needs to go in and just take her out of that place. What is being done to Terri is morally wrong and whoever is involved will have to answer to the highest judge around and that is GOD. A miracle will happen for you Terri we pray everyday that one does.Hopefully it happens before it is to late. Posted by: Bmc at March 18, 2005 11:48 PM I am most upset at the killing of this innocent defenseless woman. The only thing I take comfort in is knowing that Michael Schiavo will have to answer to God (as well as those who corroborated with him in this like Judge Greer and for all the elected folks who did nothing to save her) for killing Terri and for what he did to her before all this happened. The physical abuse and the control he had over her. I have been praying He will knock him off his high horse like the Lord did to Saul in the New Testament. Posted by: nancy at March 19, 2005 12:01 AM Michael Schiavo and Scott Peterson have something in common...instead of divorcing their wives, they murdered them...can you spell sociopath? p.s. i'm not sure if I spelled sociopath right..it's 1:30am and i'm too tired to look it up Posted by: phyllis at March 19, 2005 1:32 AM Did anyone catch Felos w/ Gretta and ON the Record tonite? Gretta mentioned that when Michael Posted by: phyllis at March 19, 2005 1:39 AM please let terri live,it is so sad to die that way like she her self has done something wrong & by looking at pic. of her she is very much alive,me my self i had reather be shot than to die that way,and again please save terri.so sad----zonnie. Posted by: zonnie at March 19, 2005 4:53 PM Why isn't there an investigation into the events surrounding Terri's injuries that occurred over 10 years ago? There are MRI/SCAN test results that appear suspicious. Seems this would occur in other cases... why not this one? How obvious does it need to be before law enforcement would act on this point? If abuse is found, this could lead to Michael being removed as Terri’s guardian and consequently her parents being appointed as her legal guardians. I cannot imagine anyone spending the amount of time, money and energy Michael has in order to have his wife killed unless there was something to hide. If there was foulplay involved then he could be prosecuted. If Terri dies, there should be an immediate autopsy investigation on her true medical condition, indicating any old or new injuries she may have, as cardiac arrest has not been confirmed. The overriding issue is that there doesn’t seem to be a rational or humane judge in the state of Florida or on the Supreme Court that cares about giving Terri the opportunity to have the proper and necessary rehabilitation in a supportive, loving environment so that she can improve. I hope people in Florida are paying attention to what is going on. Posted by: Leslie at March 19, 2005 8:04 PM Leslie....michael has thought of everything!! he's ordered that Terri be CREMATED immediately!! you are so right in your suspicions! Posted by: phyllis b at March 19, 2005 11:04 PM Well, it's happened people. Our society has, indeed, sunk to the very lowest level - killing a disabled person via dehyration and starvation. As an American, I have always taken pride in our county's conviction that we stand to fight for freedom and people's rights! As a disabled person, I have always felt that my fellow Americans valued me not for my inabilities but for the abilities I do possess. Today, I sit at my computer and feel numb. My country has turned its back on one of its own. Our society has reverted back to the notion that if it's broken - kill it. This was done to many disabled people hundreds of years ago. If you were born with a disability, you were killed. Out of sight, out of mind. May God hold a special room for Terri in his mansion when she comes home. May He also judge those who sent her to him too soon. Posted by: Joe G. at March 23, 2005 10:57 AM |

I have a feeling they have covered all avenues. If she dies , the evidence will be destroyed. To much at stake for these people. Some one refered to this as the perfect murder. Could be happening.
