They're not passing bill? That is shameful! Posted by: Jane at March 21, 2005 12:33 AM Yup, they still pick Barrabas, don't they? Posted by: Teri J at March 21, 2005 12:33 AM I hope they don't pass this stupid bill. Let the woman pass in peace you hypocrites. You dare to compare her to Jesus Christ? What an asshole. Posted by: Joey at March 21, 2005 12:34 AM Idiot, we're not comparing her to Jesus. You moron. We're comparing congress to the Pharisees. Please... Get out your Bible. Posted by: Teri J at March 21, 2005 12:35 AM okay okay, let's stop with the names. Posted by: Jayson Franklin at March 21, 2005 12:38 AM Genius, when you compare congress to the Pharisees then by extension you're comparing the plight of Terri to Jesus. If he hadn't risen from the dead Jesus would roll over in his grave to watch the distortion of his message by people like yourself. Modern Christianity is the doom of America. Posted by: Joey at March 21, 2005 12:38 AM How sad that her fellow Floridans voted against her. I wonder if they know their state laws regarding adultery. And about Greer's illegal election. Posted by: ElizabethV at March 21, 2005 12:42 AM So you prefer your Christianity to be medivial? Posted by: Jayson Franklin at March 21, 2005 12:42 AM I just saw CNN TV a while ago. The House passed the bill! :D That is good news! Posted by: Jane at March 21, 2005 12:42 AM Sorry Joey about the rudeness, its getting late. Posted by: Teri J at March 21, 2005 12:42 AM Yes, it passed. 203-56. Posted by: Teri J at March 21, 2005 12:44 AM It has passed! Get that bill over to GWB, now. Posted by: JWL at March 21, 2005 12:45 AM Correction... 203-58. Just for the sake of accuracy... Does W have his pen out yet? Posted by: Teri J at March 21, 2005 12:46 AM just passed the house, yeah!!!!!!! Posted by: chardonnay at March 21, 2005 12:48 AM CSPAN says W came back from TX today just to sign this bill. Everyone staying up to watch? Posted by: Teri J at March 21, 2005 12:48 AM I want the names of all those 58 plastered up on this and other blogs. I won't have forgotten by 2006, and neither will a lot of people, I bet. Posted by: Mary in LA at March 21, 2005 12:49 AM Not just the 58. Let's NOT forget the 3 Republicans who voted no (what were they thinking???) and the 75 who wussed out. Posted by: Teri J at March 21, 2005 12:52 AM Right, then 61+75 = 136 Congresscritters who will need to find a new line of work next year, if I have anything to say in the matter. Posted by: Mary in LA at March 21, 2005 12:53 AM if GWB is asleep, he'll be woken up. :D Posted by: ElizabethV at March 21, 2005 12:53 AM Terri, we love you, we blogged all over the country for you, we called our congressmen for you, we surfed the web for you all weekend. How many hits did the internet get this weekend for Terri's story? Posted by: chardonnay at March 21, 2005 12:53 AM Teri J, exactly. They still choose Barrabas. Yes, Joey, I'm comparing her to our Lord, because he said that whatever we do to the least of these we do to him. Posted by: mcmlxix at March 21, 2005 12:54 AM VICTORY!!!!!!!!! Posted by: MoFiZiX Gr4FiX at March 21, 2005 12:55 AM I really can't understand why it was necessary (and it WAS necessary) for Congress to act. I thought that Florida and U.S. Law would already have protected Terri. Because the existing laws and A.W.D. Act has not worked, we need new, permanant laws to protect disabled U.S. Citizens and residents. This is in addition to what Congress has just passed (congradulations!!!). But we need another TOUGH new law that protects you, me, and anyone else who has not provided absolute, 100% verifable instructions in advance - not HERESAY "instructions" that are remembered years after the fact. The new law is going to have to define exactly what tests must be done to determine a person's true condition, and how often they must be done. Terri is obviously NOT in a PVS state, based on her appearance on a number of TV news programs, and based on the judgement of the MAJORITY of doctors whom have seen her. Reuters news service from Great Britain ran an article saying that Terri was "brain dead." Terri is not brain dead, she's not even in a coma. This is brain dead: The saddest thing of all is our very own unbiased VOA (Voice of America) ran a very biased article about Terri PBS and NPR have also been very biased, very anti-life! (We get enough news and junk TV already - don't support these creeps!) Thank God for Terri's family and supporters and for the Internet. Without the Internet, I never would have learned the truth about what happened here. With the Internet, it's no longer possible to fool all of the people some of the time. I have cancelled my subscription to the New York Times. Posted by: G M McLaughlin at March 21, 2005 12:59 AM The blithering idiots who are flagrantly disregarding the Constitution and judicial precedent in order to reach the conclusion that the Congress should intervene on behalf of Terri Schiavo are today gratified. Gone are the days when a patient, or a patient's legal guardian had the right to determine the course of treatment that the patient would undergo. Gone are the days when competent physicians who had ACTUAL CONTACT WITH THE PATIENT could decide as to whether a patient was in fact in a persistent vegetative state. Gone are the days when the U.S. Congress knew its bounds and respected the rights of Americans to live and die without its interference. Way to go, the precedent that you fools have set for us now jeopardizes the RIGHTS and freedoms of all Americans to decide how to proceed with respect to their medical treatment. I hope that you all are pleased, for the time being. Unfortunately, in the long run, Terri Schiavo will meet the same end, her husband is her rightful guardian, however, the rights of all Americans preceded her in death today. I hope that all of you ignorant SOBs will remain in your brain-dead states while the rest of your rights are taken. I hope that the government grabs them up effectively and quickly, that you might be left, clutching your damned telephones, calling your congressmen, not knowing what to say as you realize that you threw away freedom to live morally in favor of the enforced morality that is no morality. Oh, and just for good measure, I hope that Tom Delay is indicted for the crimes he has committed, it would be appropriate karma for the stupidity that he spilled forth tonight on the floor of the U.S. House. Posted by: Truth at March 21, 2005 1:00 AM Well, we're not quite out of the woods yet. From the CNN link (thanks, MoFiZiX Gr4FiX!): "Congress has no authority to order the feeding tube re-inserted, but the federal court could choose to do so while it reviews the case." "Could" choose to do so?!? How long will that take? And what if they don't? Posted by: Mary in LA at March 21, 2005 1:01 AM Wasserman is on cspan lying through her teeth right now. Posted by: Teri J at March 21, 2005 1:02 AM Okay, "Truth", enough with the melodrama. All any U.S. citizen has to do is to draw up a clear, written directive -- a living will -- and it's done. Dealt with. I love and trust my husband, but he is not my "rightful guardian" unless I so appoint him in writing. Only I have the right to say what medical care I may or may not get. And it is absolutely my responsibility to say so, clearly and in writing. Have you drawn up your living will yet? If not, then my advice to you is to get off the Internet right now and do it. Posted by: Mary in LA at March 21, 2005 1:05 AM "Truth" is mad because innocent people are no longer going to be starved to death without due process. Oh, that's so sad. Posted by: JWL at March 21, 2005 1:06 AM I never thought that I'd say that Truth was ignorant. How Orwellian. Posted by: mcmlxix at March 21, 2005 1:07 AM Actually, yes, I have drawn up a living will, just because of this case. Long before this, my family and friends knew my feelings, however, now I have to fear authoritarian conservatives (fascists) who might decide that they don't like what I've told my family and friends. The husband, as per Florida law, has the authority to enforce his wife's will in this case, read some Florida law, you might find it interesting, even enlightening. Posted by: Truth at March 21, 2005 1:07 AM Let's be clear about what Congress has done here. They aren't taking away anyone's right to determine theor own medical destiny. They are giving incapacitated individuals the assurance that they will not be bulldozed by state courts. This is no different than the priviledge afforded to convicted criminals who are being mistreated in their respective states. courts are not permitted to run amok in this country. Posted by: Teri J at March 21, 2005 1:12 AM Due process? How much due process do you need? How many years in the courts? Certainly you aren't suggesting that 7 years is not adequate for the courts to see the medical evidence necessary to decide this case. If you have actually looked at the court records, you might find a very different story. You might find one that shows that Terri Schiavo has received exceptional process, process above and beyond what is normal and that Michael Schiavo has been put through an abominal amount of trouble just to enforce, what the courts have said on multiple occasions, was his wife's will on the issue. Posted by: Truth at March 21, 2005 1:12 AM Hey Truth, you mean authoritian conservative fascists like the 47 Democrat Congressmen who voted for this bill? It wouldn't have passed without them, you know. Final vote totals on the Incapacitated Persons Legal Protection Act, House of Representatives: Republicans: 156 Yea, 5 Nay Totals: 203 Yea, 58 Nay Posted by: JWL at March 21, 2005 1:13 AM "Truth", don't you get it? What Michael Schiavo used was hearsay. Hearsay is not admissible as evidence. In California, where I am, the courts have decided that clear, written directives may not be overturned by hearsay. So, if you already have a living will, move to sunny California, where you'll be completely safe from those mean old authoritarian fascists. Come to think of it, you really ought to move out here anyway. We always have room for a few more left-wing flakes. ;-) Posted by: Mary in LA at March 21, 2005 1:13 AM Actually, hun, what Congress has done here is pass a Bill of Attainder as per U.S. v. Brown, explicitly violating the Constitution. Posted by: Truth at March 21, 2005 1:14 AM Truth, I'm with you. This perception of born again christians that they hold some moral superiority over our courts and our consitutional rights is foretelling of a great divide in this country. Bush likes killing retards in Texas but "Lordy be, let the brain dead woman in Florida live! Especially if my precious bible-beating base of voters is in favor of it, y'all!" Posted by: Joey at March 21, 2005 1:14 AM I don't need to go online to see the vote totals, I'm in the building. Posted by: Truth at March 21, 2005 1:14 AM Belated thanks to Caryn for giving me the information on California court decisions, several threads ago. Posted by: Mary in LA at March 21, 2005 1:15 AM Living wills should be required to be recorded on video as well as notarized. Of course, I can envision the possibility of a "shotgun" living will being recorded. Anyone have any ideas? As far as anyone knows Terri did not have a living will, maybe she did want to live if she was not brain dead - and she is not, unless someone destroyed her living will (M......?) According to what Michael said on Larry King last night, "We didn't know what Terri wanted, but this is what we want..." So, he didn't know what Terri wanted. He had lied in court. The "we" ... this is Michael and his new wife, or Michael and Greer or Michael and his attorney? How did the other one(s) of "we" know what Terri wanted? Here's the transcript of the program: Please see what Terri's family says too. Maybe this will shed some light on the fact that Michael had beaten the crap out of Terri. She did not have a "natural" heart attack! Special investigations into the goings on in Pinellas County Florida from 1990 - 2005 should be made at the highest levels of the Florida government and by the U.S. Dept. of Justice. Posted by: Joe at March 21, 2005 1:17 AM That's funny, but interestingly enough, Mrs. Schiavo does not have a living will saying that she wanted to live. Her rights aren't being trampled, it is clear what her feelings were, it has been established more times than is necessary in Court. Posted by: Truth at March 21, 2005 1:18 AM Who in their right mind really believes this woman wants to live like this? This is disgusting. Her parents are the most selfish people on the planet. Posted by: Joey at March 21, 2005 1:19 AM Hey "Truth," if you are 'in the building,' perhaps you may have noted Congressman Weldon's remark about being DENIED the ability to see Terri Schiavo? Congressman Weldon is a DOCTOR. You talk about doctors having contact. If Michael Schiavo is correct, why did he not let DOCTOR David Weldon visit Terri to make a determination? Clearly, in such a case, such a visit would ONLY benefit Michael Schiavo. Why has Michael Schiavo failed to allow the media access to Terri Schiavo? Again, if what Michael says is correct, a visit by the media would only HELP his case. Posted by: cw at March 21, 2005 1:20 AM ...and Joey comes with a torch after the Straw Man he has constucted. Posted by: mcmlxix at March 21, 2005 1:21 AM Joe- You must be kidding me. You're trying to tell me that Michael Schiavo caused his wife's heart attack? It wasn't an eating disorder and a potassium imbalance. Wow, this is really enlightening about the intelligence that buoys the relgious fascists. Posted by: Truth at March 21, 2005 1:22 AM Well, cw, because you asked, it is because it is hardly traditional to allow the media and strange doctors with a clear political agenda to invade the hospice. Posted by: Truth at March 21, 2005 1:25 AM Regarding politicians who voted in favor of allowing Terri to die, I hope members of their district will remember them. Hopefully those politicians will face defeat to pro-life opponents in 2006. WE need to remember these individuals into the 2006 election season and REMIND everyone of their votes favoring starvation and dehydration. Posted by: cw at March 21, 2005 1:25 AM This is what the congressional vote is really about: "Time is not on Terri Schiavo's side," DeLay said. "The few remaining objecting House Democrats have so far cost Mrs. Schiavo two meals already today." Politics. DeLay, a dirty congressman on the take from special interest groups, is trying desperately to save some face in light of his recent scandal. Politicians...they disgust me. LET TERRI DIE! LET TERRI DIE! Posted by: Joey at March 21, 2005 1:26 AM I hope you're right cw, because startlingly, 87% of Americans would not want to be put through what Mrs. Schiavo is being put through right now. Fascinatingly, they would prefer to die than to linger in this vegetative state. Cruel and unusual indeed. Posted by: Truth at March 21, 2005 1:27 AM Truth, she didn't have a heart attack. The ER doctors found no sign of damage to her heart. There's something very fishy about Terri's case. At the very least, she should have had an MRI. Posted by: Mary in LA at March 21, 2005 1:30 AM Hey, guess what, folks? I think "Truth" is a LAWYER!!! Posted by: Mary in LA at March 21, 2005 1:32 AM Sorry 'bout the drive-by lawyering, folks. I'm getting punchy. Posted by: Mary in LA at March 21, 2005 1:35 AM Hey, guess what folks? I think that a little legal experience is probably important to understanding the terms that you folks throw around like "cruel and unusual," "due process," "persistent vegetative state," and perhaps "Patient's Rights." Posted by: Truth at March 21, 2005 1:35 AM "Truth" Michael had beaten the crap out of Terri. You're in the building - you should know. Posted by: Ann Brown at March 21, 2005 1:38 AM Cardiac Arrest, Mary, Cardiac Arrest. Cardiac Arrest due to a 2.0 Potassium level leading to a total liquification of the cerebral cortex. Posted by: Truth at March 21, 2005 1:40 AM Truth, I wish you would stop pointing out facts - they're getting in the way of the emotional moral argument. Self-righteousness and truth don't mix, didn't you learn anything in law school? Posted by: Joey at March 21, 2005 1:45 AM Truth, are you a doctor (and not a lawyer)? Tell me how elevated potassium leads to liquification of the cortex. That makes no sense to me as a medical layman. However, I know enough to know that cardiac arrest is not a heart attack. That's a myocardial infarction. Posted by: Mary in LA at March 21, 2005 1:45 AM Joey, you sounded much more reasonable on the "Futile Care" thread. I'm disappointed. Posted by: Mary in LA at March 21, 2005 1:46 AM For those who so much like to quote the Constitution and talk about States rights being trampled... Remember slavery, that was a state right also which took another set of REPUBLICANS to act for what is right (as opposed to buckling down to legislators, state laws, and JUDGES who had no clue how to interpret their way out of a bag of potatoe chips). As usual, Democrats show their true nature. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Posted by: Donna at March 21, 2005 1:47 AM So let's just say the tube is reinserted and "yipee! Terri gets to wet and soil herself another day! And she doesn't even know it!! Woo-hoo!!" How can you cheer that? Yeesh...I wonder what her parents have stipulated in THEIR living will. That would be most telling, would it not? Posted by: Joey at March 21, 2005 1:47 AM Mary, if you have looked at any of the evidence in the case dealing with Terri's medical condition, you might realize that her bulimia led to a unnormally low potassium level, which leads to cardiac arrest, just does, medical fact. Read the case and the legal findings if you want to understand further. Posted by: Truth at March 21, 2005 1:48 AM I love how the partisan liberals "Truth" and Joey are ignoring that 47 DEMOCRATS just voted for this bill! Posted by: JWL at March 21, 2005 1:50 AM Donna, would you prefer a one-party system perhaps? A country of entirely like-minded republicans? They tried that already in Germany around 1933-1945. Didn't work so well. But as you say, the more things change, the more things stay the same... Posted by: Joey at March 21, 2005 1:50 AM Joey, diapers are just diapers. It's funny how people talk about wearing diapers as if it were the end of the world, or the end of their dignity (which for some people appears to amount to the same thing). Is a baby undignified because he wears diapers? Is he suffering? How about all those adults who wear Depends? If crapping your pants were fatal, Depends would never have been invented. Terri's quality of life can demonstrably be improved. By taking her outside for some fresh air, playing music for her, even brushing her teeth. Saying that Terri's life has no value because it is more limited than ours is, truly, playing God. Posted by: Mary in LA at March 21, 2005 1:51 AM Okay, Truth, but how do we get from cardiac arrest to cortical liquification? That's the part I don't understand. Can you explain it to me? Posted by: Mary in LA at March 21, 2005 1:52 AM So the irony is her eating disorder brought this on. Yikes. Who says God doesn't have a sense of humor? Posted by: Joey at March 21, 2005 1:53 AM They also tried killing the disabled.. Oh well, sorry for ya Posted by: Donna at March 21, 2005 1:53 AM Fascinatingly, I'm not a partisan liberal either, I voted for Bush in 2000 and I voted Constitution Party in 2004. It's no surprise to me that some Democrats want this to be a Federal issue that they can control. What surprises me is that Republicans don't respect state's rights at all on this issue. By the way, wackos, stop lying about what Michael Schiavo said on Larry King, he explicitly said that Terri said, while she was still with us, that she wanted "no tubes, nothing like that." Posted by: Truth at March 21, 2005 1:54 AM Mary, Lucky us Posted by: Donna at March 21, 2005 1:54 AM Joey, you disappoint me yet again. Posted by: Mary in LA at March 21, 2005 1:55 AM "Truth" voted for the Constitution Party, the far-right-wing Bible people, and he calls the conservatives fascists? That's just too much. Posted by: JWL at March 21, 2005 1:56 AM Mary, you're inability to go and get the court findings yourself is astounding, if you care, educate yourself. The atrophy of the brain and decay of the cerebral cortex has led to the cavity left by the cerebral cortex being filled with spinal fluid. All doctors who have seen Terri have said that this would lead to a persistent vegetative state. Aren't any of you'll educated enough to answer Mary's questions before she shoots off her mouth? Posted by: Truth at March 21, 2005 1:57 AM Mary, I'll grant you, the diaper argument is very weak. As a parent I would have a terrible time letting go of my child, just as the Schindler's are having a terrible time letting go of their daughter. They've held onto hope for 15 years now. That's admirable. But their emotions are clouding their judgment - they're lucky to have a son in law like Michael. Posted by: Joey at March 21, 2005 1:58 AM It's just one missing link I need. I don't dispute the bulimia, the low potassium, or the cardiac arrest. I do dispute how any of those three conditions can affect the brain in such a direct and dramatic fashion as cortical liquefaction. That's not made clear in the medical documents that I can see. However, if you don't know either, Truth, that's okay. After all, you're a lawyer, not a doctor. Posted by: Mary in LA at March 21, 2005 2:01 AM That's more like it, Joey! But I don't think the Schindlers are lucky in their son-in-law -- not when he denies basic amenities like sunshine, music, antibiotics, and toothbrushing to their daughter. Posted by: Mary in LA at March 21, 2005 2:03 AM Donna, how does self-satisfaction education work? You seem pretty well versed in it. Posted by: Joey at March 21, 2005 2:03 AM Voting for the right-wing bible people is not so absurd as per personal beliefs. Some freedoms they embrace I embrace as well, plus, I like throwing the crazies one once in a while, I think you can count on one hand how many other votes they got in the District. But regardless, all the right-wing bible people are wrong on this issue, and I'll never vote for them again, not even for giggles. Posted by: Truth at March 21, 2005 2:03 AM Decay of the cerebral cortex Mary, due to long term oxygen deprivation. Repeated evaluations have affirmed it time and again. Posted by: Truth at March 21, 2005 2:06 AM This is meant as a civil question, Truth, so I hope you'll take it that way: Which federal agency do you work for? Posted by: Mary in LA at March 21, 2005 2:07 AM And how can you deny the irony of a feeding tube brought on by bulemia? I'm not laughing or making light of her situation, just observing. It's even more poignant when you consider that this condition was self-inflicted. I feel terrible for this woman. I hope her suffering ends soon. Posted by: Joey at March 21, 2005 2:08 AM I work for the staff of a U.S. Senator. Posted by: Truth at March 21, 2005 2:08 AM Well, "Truth", considering that you only got about 22% of the House siding with you on this issue, I guess you're one of the crazies. Posted by: JWL at March 21, 2005 2:08 AM I don't presently dispute the bulimia diagnosis, but I don't think it has anything to do with Terri's present case. I think Michael tried to strangle her. That seems to be consistent with the neck injuries. Recall that Michael has insisted on immediate cremation with no autopsy. What is he afraid of? Posted by: Mary in LA at March 21, 2005 2:10 AM Thanks, Truth. Which one, if you don't mind my asking? Posted by: Mary in LA at March 21, 2005 2:11 AM Well, JWL, considering that less than half of the House voted for this bill, I don't think you have a firm grasp of what occurred this evening. The Dems at least had the balls to let their members vote as they feel. The Reps enforce a strict party-line vote as per Tom Delay's orders, it is really disgusting that this is the way it went down. Posted by: Truth at March 21, 2005 2:12 AM Can't tell you Mary, I'm explicitly forbidden from doing so by contract. Posted by: Truth at March 21, 2005 2:13 AM Okay, with the whacked out assertion that her husband tried to strangle her, I will indeed be going to bed. Mary, good luck. And when you've finished working out this particular conspiracy theory, see what you can do about JFK's assassination. You sounded so reasonable there for a while, too! How disappointing. Posted by: Joey at March 21, 2005 2:14 AM Okay, I understand. Thanks! Are you sure that Tom DeLay enforced a strict party-line vote? How would he do that -- send a memo? After all, 3 of the Republicans did vote against the bill. Posted by: Mary in LA at March 21, 2005 2:16 AM Okay, Truth, goodnight -- and remember it's not me being conspiratorial, it's a set of incriminating X-rays. At least now there'll be a thorough investigation. And if I'm wrong, and I've calumniated Mr. Schiavo, I'll be happy to admit it. Posted by: Mary in LA at March 21, 2005 2:18 AM I'm going to exit with Joey at the moment. Unfortunately, I have to deal with the fallout from this entire thing tomorrow, which is more than I think that any of you can say. You might be surprised at what this could do to Constitutional law. And I'll go on record as saying that the 11th circuit will take the appeal, find the same as the state court and set this whole thing going again. And eventually we won't have patient's rights. Which is sad. Anyway, if anyone would like to read the court documents and some of the comments by the EEG's, I'll be on again to search for lucidity amongst the masses. Posted by: Truth at March 21, 2005 2:18 AM I am so very grateful for this list... I was hoping for JUST this type of information... Posted by: Crystal Clear at March 21, 2005 2:19 AM The medical records show that Terri did not suffer a heart attack. The hospital entertained the idea but it was discounted. Mrs Schiavo suffered an anoxic fit that was brought on by the deprivation of oxygen to her brain when her husband attempted to strangle her. Also, there is a question mark about the level of glucose in her blood when those tests were done at the hospital. I believe that there should be a full forensic investigation into all matters pertaining to this case. It is not too late to do a full investigation. As for Michael Schiavo being the rightful guardian, that is utter rubbish. An abusive husband does not have the right to be the guardian of his disabled wife. He should have been removed as guardian as soon as the first allegations of abuse were raised. The "truth" about this case is that there is something very rotten about the decisions that were made by UNJustice George (kill the girl) Greer. The decisions that have been made smack of collusion involving something far bigger than the life of Terri Schiavo. It is time for a federal investigation into the conduct of guardianships in Pinellas County Florida. How many elderly men and women have been fleeced by guardians? How many men and women have been taken into the court to be declared incompetent by people who want to get hold of the assets? How many have been left to rot and die through neglect of the alleged guardian? How many have had their instructions relating to medical matters because a court appointed guardian has been thrust upon them? How many could die at the hands of guardians who are into fraud if Terri's case opened the way to their execution? Posted by: Maggie at March 21, 2005 2:20 AM Maggie... yes, all of this needs to be investigated... http://terrideservesjustice.blogspot.com/ Posted by: Teri J at March 21, 2005 2:26 AM truth. you've lost on all major politcal fronts. why then, are you surprised when we, the bible thumping morons, continue to push our agenda? do you post anonymously on these sites just to feel special? you should be ashamed that you work so close to any politican, let alone a democrat; we're not impressed. now please, quietly fade away to your ivory tower. Posted by: Jayson Franklin at March 21, 2005 2:26 AM Okay, what do we know about the 11th Circuit Court? Anything in particular? They could just uphold the previous rulings, and they very likely will, unless it can be proved that something critical was left out of the earlier proceedings. Time to investigate the allegations of abuse in a big way! Posted by: Mary in LA at March 21, 2005 2:35 AM Anybody else think that "Truth" is really just a snotty 12 year old troll playing with mommy's computer? His first post is an angry rant against conservatives, who he later calls fascists. But then when I call him a partisan liberal, he claims that he voted for the Constitution Party - a bunch of far-right wing religious people who complain that Bush doesn't put enough religion into the government. And when that's pointed out to him, he backs off, saying that he voted for the Constitution Party just for the heck of it. How responsible of a supposed Senate employee! Next he shows his ignorance of mathematics, since the trend in voting suggests that even if the entire Congress had voted, the percentage would be about the same - about 75% in favor and 25% against. I guess "Truth" would have us believe that the rest of the Republicans and Democrats all would have voted against this bill. Except that he also says that Republicans are forced to vote on party lines. Oh, but five Republicans didn't. I guess next he'll tell us about some secret punishment for them, like Tom DeLay using voodoo dolls on them. Actually, nevermind. He sounds a lot like a Democrat Congressman. Posted by: JWL at March 21, 2005 2:59 AM A heads-up: I've just put together a blog, Liberals for Terri, that you can send your liberal friends to. Anyone who thinks we just ought to "let her go" and "be with God" will be enlightened. You'll like it too I promise :) http://liberalsforterri.blogspot.com I argue for Terri's life not from the strict "right to life" point of view, but from the evidence that her estranged husband might have put her in this state to begin with -- and that we are obligated to investigate that possibility RIGOROUSLY before we give him the keys to drive off into the sunset. It's a simple matter of law and order. It's also Terri's right to be protected from any incriminating and suspicious acts by her husband, as well as the rampant medical & legal fraud that has occurred on her "behalf". Hope you like it. Be sure to send ALL your liberal friends over there. It ought to get them asking some tough questions. We need to collapse this house of cards QUICKLY before the political circus gets out of control, and we need the help of everyone to do it. Realize that if they were really aware of what's been going on, they'd flip on a dime. (If not then they are implicitly criticizing the Scott Petersons of the world for not suffocating their wives just to the point of brain injury, taking them to the hospital and then demanding their "right to die".) Smith MD at March 21, 2005 6:46 AM Truth, unfortunately you're being blinded by lies. If you actually do some research you'll find out that... Terri deserves to have the full truth come out and investigated, not just the "pieces of evidence" her adulterous husband chooses to bring forth. That is an injustice to Terri. Further, how can YOU assume Terri wants to die? The reason "most Americans" would not want to live in a state that Terri is in is that they are uneducated as to what Terri's true state is. She is brain-damaged, yes. But she is not in any sort of state that most Americans think she is in. The lack of education to this case is startling and disturbing. Posted by: Amy at March 21, 2005 8:37 AM Praised be Jesus and the Saints, that Terri will have her feeding tube reinserted. A couple of things came to mind, as I watched the Democrates spew out against passing this bill for Terri's case. 1. Several democrates said that Terri had been suffering for many years! Is starvation and dehydration not suffering? How could she have suffered in the past, if they claim she is brain dead and feels no pain? Posted by: LilyGD at March 21, 2005 10:08 AM Strangulation can cause the potassium deficiency everyone keeps blaming on an eating disorder and if you read ALL doctors notes, not just those permitted by Judge Greer, you will find there's evidence of this in the records. If ALL evidence is equally reviewed and Schiavo-Greer-Felos-Sheriff Rice, et al. turn out to be right (and not murdering for money, committing Medicare/Medicaid fraud, or breaking all the other laws they appear to have broken to kill Terri), then "poor Terri" has only been "forced" to live a little longer. Then maybe we can "put her down" humanely - say, like Scott Peterson or any other murderer, with a lethal injection. For that matter, why don't we let her live as long as Peterson and give her the same due process. Seems fair, doesn't it? Posted by: Virginia at March 21, 2005 10:09 AM What is wrong with you people?! Why is it a good idea for your tax dollars to go towards something that in no way effects you. This fight has nothing to do with the federal govt or the state govt it's a family issue and that's it. Why can't you people just see that and why can't her parents just let her have peace?! Posted by: kblrlf at March 21, 2005 11:08 AM kblrlf- because the family that really cares for Terri isn't being given a voice because of a corrupt judge, a death-worshipping attorney, and an adulterous, most likely abusive, self-serving spouse (he no longer is deserving of the title husband) who broke his marriage contract many years ago. If my husband were neglecting/abusing me, having an affair, already had plans to remarry, and had children by the other woman, I wouldn't consider him a trustworthy representative of my wishes. Posted by: Virginia at March 21, 2005 11:17 AM It's not a family issue when an estranged husband has ulterior motives! Posted by: Sirena at March 21, 2005 11:18 AM I am sorry about Terri, but her husband waited all these years to see if she would improve and she hasn't. Only God knows, but I wouldn't put my daughter thru all that her parents are putting her threw. I wouldn't want my daughter to live like that. I would honor her verbal wishes not to let her live like that. It is disturbing to see how much our goverment is spending for this bill. When that money could go to good use helping other people. I think the parents have a grudge against their son in law. I think also that the parent's of Terri aren't facing the fact that they are losing their daughter and they continue to say she is aware. She isn't aware, your both just in denial, and at the same time making us american taxpayers pay for your personal problem. Honestly this story leaves me with a sour stomach. I also think the parents of Terri are being stubborn, and won't let the husband decide which most of the people in the US the last I looked was 60 percent of the people say let the husband decide. Start facing the problem between yourselves. Leave us out of it. Posted by: Joyce at March 21, 2005 12:04 PM Ulterior Motives??? You people are now starting to lie about Terri's husband, you people who are in favor of keeping Terri alive are starting to add lie's. You people discuss me. How stupid do you think we citizen's of the United States that just paid for your lies with 5 million dollars. Posted by: Joyce at March 21, 2005 2:04 PM Today's Poll: To Terri's Parent's as you can see by today's poll's,this is a family matter. And thank you very much for spending our tax money. I would never put my daughter thru what you people are doing. No matter what you feel about her husband, you shouldn't put Terri thru that, because of what you did now you can't even be by your daughter's bedside. Posted by: Joyce at March 22, 2005 8:29 AM |

They say, let her be crucified. But we ask, what crime has she commited. They reply let her be crucified.
