« Schiavo bill a race against time | Main | David Limbaugh: Prayers for Terri » March 15, 2005Contact Amnesty International About Terri Schiavo (Updated)Topics: Action ItemsUpdate: Amnesty International called back and said that they only get involved in death penalty cases, and declined to help Terri. More updated info below post> Just what in the hell is Terri under if not a death sentence by Judge Greer for the crime of being handicapped? (Please excuse language - happens when terribly frustrated with members of the Secular Society For Killing The Innocent) - via email from a reader Her response to being involved in the Terri Schiavo case was that they usually/specifically only work on death row cases - i said is that always and she said no not always. I reminded her that they were planing to murder Terri on Friday if no one intervened, and asked what about Terri's human rights. She told me that she would look into it and call or email me back. I will get other numbers for Amnesty offices and email them to you. Do you think we should be making more calls to them to get involved? My Response: YES! I just called Amnesty's New York office. I am sorely disappointed in Amnesty International. Posted by: Elizabeth at March 15, 2005 3:00 PM I just talked to Morgan at the death penalty chapter in Washington and she was much more understanding than they were in New York. She seemed to acknowledge that a judicial sentence of death is a judicial sentence of death regardless of whetehr it is on "Death Row" or not, and told me that she has already contacted London herself about the case. Posted by: Elizabeth at March 15, 2005 3:16 PM Just got through to Mark Elliott of the Atlanta Office - He oversees district of Florida - he said that there is nothing at the state level that Amnesty can do( he was very aware of Terri's Story and said that he wished there was something the could do) he also said that he would look into it further - i told him that i spoke to Louise Jones in the NY office and she said the directives come from the london office and he also recomended to call london the person that i have in the london office is Rob Frier at # Posted by: keeka at March 15, 2005 4:56 PM Please stop the court from killing Terry Schavio Posted by: Joan Weydert at March 16, 2005 8:06 PM |
